• UHMWPE = ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene

Project objectives

• To maintain and expand the EU database of explanted UHMWPE liners from hip and knee joint replacements.
• To search for correlations among various modifications of UHMWPE, their properties, and performance in vivo.

Current state & plans for future

• The database contains >500 entries from three EU countries and we want to keep it growing.
• Each entry = UHMWPE retrieval: manufacturer's data, orthopedic evaluation, and properties (IR, MH).

• Key participants: Miroslav Slouf (Czech Republic) + Pierangiola Bracco (Italy) + Francisco Medel (Spain).
